A little more about the person behind the work

Abdussamad Olawale

I’m Abdussamad Olawale. I’m the kind of designer who needs to know why something works—not just how it looks.

People usually call me Ash. I formed the name from my initials and made it my design brand; it’s also much easier to pronounce than my full name.

I studied Information and Communication Science at the University of Ilorin. Product design, though, started with curiosity rather than a classroom.

Before I knew UI/UX had a name, I recreated mobile app screens in CorelDRAW to figure out how they were built. That habit of taking products apart and putting them back together became a career.

These days, that means designing SaaS, mobile, and enterprise software. I spend a lot of time with the awkward parts—dense workflows, edge cases, and systems that have grown messy. If the next step isn’t obvious, I keep working.

Away from Figma, I’m usually rewatching a classic film, following a random topic down an internet rabbit hole, or looking for something good to eat.

Have a project in mind?
I’d love to discuss it.

I am open to product design roles, focused collaborations, and select freelance work.
